MLF riders were among the more than 32,000 cyclists participating in this year’s TD Five Boro Bike Tour. The 40-mile scenic tour takes riders through the five boroughs of NYC starting in downtown Manhattan and ending in Staten Island with a Finish Festival.
While this is only our second year participating in the Bike Tour, the number of MLF riders more than doubled. The Marty Lyons Foundation had 16 riders representing our organization. Riding for MLF was Founder and Chairman, Marty Lyons, his wife, Christine Lyons, Foundation’s Chief Medical Advisor, Ernest Vomero, who brought with him family members, Vincent, Nicholas, Vincent and Gaspare. Dr. Johnson, a colleague of Dr. Vomero, also joined the team on the tour. To complete our team, this year the Foundation was honored to have a group of eight Marines, based out of Queens, ride in support of our mission.
Finishing the tour in just over 3 hours, the team is already gearing up for next year. Our goal is to make it bigger and better with more participants. The more team members we have, the more we can raise. The more we raise, the more wishes we can grant which will give our kids the courage to wish for more!
